The Earth Hour Challenge-March 29th

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MARCH 5, 2008

Are you afraid of the dark?
The Earth Hour Challenge
The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has recently decided to challenge surrounding
municipalities to see who is afraid of the dark, or rather who is in support of reducing green
house gas emissions.

An important global warming initiative Earth Hour- will be taking place in Australia and
around the world on March 29, 2008.

At 8:00 p.m. on March 29, cities around the world will turn off their lights for one hour to show
that it's possible to take action against global warming.

Earth Hour, run by the World Wildlife Foundation aims at the power of individuals making a
difference. Last year nearly two million residents from Sydney, Australia participated in Earth
Hour and were able to achieve a reduction of 10.2 % in C02 emissions.

This year the Town is taking the initiative to become more earth friendly and would like to
encourage all residents and businesses to turn off their lights on March 29 at 8:00 p.m for one
hour. For more information about this program or to sign up individually please visit the website
www.earthhour.org
