MEETINGS

The Council of the Corporation of the Town of South Bruce Peninsula is considering passing a
by-law on April 28, 2008 which would effectively increase the Water and Sewer rates within the
former Town of Wiarton by 3.00% effective May 1, 2008 for the billing on July 1, 2008.

A public meeting to consider this by-law will take place at the Council Meeting on April 28,
2008 prior to consideration being given to the bylaw.

for the construction of the new Amabel Sauble Water Treatment Plant in the Sauble Beach area.

The tenders shall be accepted only from prequalified General Contractors, that will be permitted to use
prequalified electrical and mechanical subcontractors.

The work consists of the following major items:

$ Package Greensand Filtration Plant
$ Supply and installation of three (3) submersible raw water supply well pumps, two (2) vertical
turbine backwash pumps and three (3) vertical turbine high lift pumps
$ Cartridge filters and UV reactors
$ Chemical systems comprising of chlorination systems
$ Treatment plant building with approximate dimensions of 15 m x 17 m
$ Inground clearwater storage tank with capacity of approximately 670 m3, as well as inground filter
backwash waste treatment tank underneath the building
$ All associated civil, electrical and mechanical works including plant automation
$ Sheet piling for excavation


Each tender must be accompanied by a tender deposit in the form of a certified cheque or a Bid Bond payable to the
Town of South Bruce Peninsula, along with a signed Agreement to Bond for 100% Performance, 50% Labour and
Material Payment, and a Maintenance Bond.

Plans, Specifications and other Contract Documents may be obtained from the office of the undersigned Consulting
Engineer (call Loreen Miller, 519-376-7612, ext. 205, or e-mail, lemiller@hp.on.ca) by sending a cheque payable to
"Town of South Bruce Peninsula" for the sum of $225.00 including GST, which sum will not be refunded.

For the contractor's convenience and to establish first hand information of the subsurface soil conditions at the site, a
test hole shall be excavated at the proposed site of the building on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 9:30 a.m.

document now entitled Action Plan (2007) has been revised and is available for review at the
Town Hall or on the municipal website at www.southbrucepeninsula.com.

Residents and local organizations are encouraged review the document and provide comments to

Project Coordinator-County of Bruce

The Corporation of the County of Bruce
Requires a Project Coordinator for the
Lindsay Tract Trails Project

A system of multi-purpose trails will be developed and built in the Lindsay Tract Managed
Forest, near Miller Lake, Ontario. Under the direction of the Trail Manager, the Coordinator will
supervise 10 youths in the planning and construction of trails and associated amenities. The
successful candidate will also provide leadership and training to the participants to assist them in
achieving employment goals. The Coordinator must be physically fit and able to work in a
remote outdoor location in varying weather conditions. A valid driver's licence and reliable
transportation are required. This is a forty-five (45) week contract, with a rate of pay of $700 per
week.
Qualifications:
· Post-secondary education related to park/trails, plus hands on trail development
experience
· Experience in project management
· Some experience working with and supervising youth
· Excellent public relations skills
· Proficient with computers and relevant software
Assets
· Ontario Chainsaw Safety Certificate
· First Aid and CPR

Lindsay Tract Trail Development Project

The County of Bruce requires ten (10) Trail Workers for the Lindsay Tract Managed Forest
located north of Ferndale. Under the direction of the Project Coordinator, participants will plan
and construct trails and associated park amenities. The successful candidates must be physically
fit and able to work in remote outdoor conditions in varying weather conditions. Transportation
may be available from central locations on the peninsula.

This is a 40-week Government of Canada funded project located in the Ferndale, Miller Lake
area, with a weekly compensation of $284.00.

The Earth Hour Challenge-March 29th

Are you afraid of the dark?
The Earth Hour Challenge
The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has recently decided to challenge surrounding
municipalities to see who is afraid of the dark, or rather who is in support of reducing green
house gas emissions.

An important global warming initiative ­ Earth Hour- will be taking place in Australia and
around the world on March 29, 2008.

At 8:00 p.m. on March 29, cities around the world will turn off their lights for one hour to show
that it's possible to take action against global warming.

Earth Hour, run by the World Wildlife Foundation aims at the power of individuals making a
difference. Last year nearly two million residents from Sydney, Australia participated in Earth
Hour and were able to achieve a reduction of 10.2 % in C02 emissions.

This year the Town is taking the initiative to become more earth friendly and would like to
encourage all residents and businesses to turn off their lights on March 29 at 8:00 p.m for one
hour. For more information about this program or to sign up individually please visit the website
www.earthhour.org
