RECREATION PUBLIC MEETINGS
The Town of South Bruce Peninsula will be holding a series of public meetings to gather information regarding
the types of recreation programs and opportunities desired by residents, appropriate fees for these programs
and the most effective methods of marketing within our Town. The schedule and locations of these meetings are
as follows.
Purple Valley Community Centre ­ August 31st 7 ­ 9 pm

Wiarton District Arena (Upstairs) ­ September 1st 7 ­ 9 pm

Allenford Curling Club ­ September 2nd 7 ­ 9pm

Elsinore Community Centre ­ September 3rd 7 ­ 9 pm

Mar Women's Institute ­ September 7th 7 ­ 9 pm

Sauble Beach Community Centre ­ September 10th 7 ­ 9 pm

Hepworth Community Centre ­ September 14th 7 ­ 9 pm

TOWN OF SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA SWAP DAY SEPTEMBER 26TH
Swap Day is a fun, environmental program which allows people to recycle unwanted items.
After 6 pm on the Friday prior to swap day, place unwanted but still useable items at the curb for pick up!
Place unwanted items such as furniture, books, tools, sporting goods, toys, etc at the end of your driveway or
the edge of your lawn. Tie a white plastic bag around the item or items to indicate they are meant for Swap Day.
The Town of South Bruce Peninsula does not assume liability for items which are lost, removed or damaged
during Swap Day. Please do not pick up any items unless you are certain that they have been placed for pick up.
Remove leftover items from your driveway or lawn by 6:00 pm on Swap Day. There will be NO special
municipal pick up of any items. For more information, contact Public Works at 519 534 1400.
SENIOR ABUSE PLAY SEPTEMBER 16TH SAUBLE BEACH COMMUNITY CENTRE
"Ye Canna Throw Your Granny Off The Bus" Realities and impacts of Senior Abuse are revealed in this play for
seniors and general audiences.

Doris is determined to brighten Fred's life, but Fred has a dark secret. As they catch up on news about old
friends, Fred learns he's not the only one who's had a hard day and he finds out what can be done to change
things.

"Fred & Doris in: Ye Canna Throw Your Granny Off the Bus", a play that mingles gaiety, misery and lively music,
offers a heartening approach to the harsh reality of serious issues for seniors.

Featuring: Audrey Otter & Ted Codack
Date: September 16th, 2009
Cost: FREE or Join the Sauble Sandpipers for a "Soups On" Lunch at 11:30 for $3.00

Recreation and culture attracts businesses and professionals (Doctors, Teachers and Artists) to the
community. Strong recreation services are prime economic development and relocation magnets.
Arts/culture is one of the best ways to express the spirituality of the land, thereby encouraging
stewardship ethics.
Recreation reduces crime and social dysfunction - reducing police, justice and incarceration costs.
