HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE EVENT
2008

Now is your chance to clean out your shed/garage/basement and remove potentially
dangerous waste products and dispose of them in an environmentally safe manner, at NO
COST. Hazardous materials are those that can catch fire, react or explode when mixed with
other substances, if it's corrosive, or if it is toxic. Improper disposal of many household
products in drains, sewers, backyards or landfill sites, is not only hazardous to public health
but also contaminates our water supply and other natural resources.
CORROSIVE TOXIC REACTIVE FLAMMABLE
Batteries (household Pesticides, Ammonia, Oils, Solvents,
and auto), Over the counter Pool chemicals, Gasoline, Paint,
Oven cleaners, and prescription Bleach BBQ Propane tanks
Pool chemicals, medicines, Fluorescent bulbs Nail polish/cosmetics
Drain openers Cleaners (tubes and compact) Anti-freeze
The County of Bruce will be conducting the 2008 Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Commercial, Agricultural, Industrial wastes, or volumes, PCB's, infectious or
radioactive wastes will NOT be accepted. To reduce volumes, paints can be combined in
one container. Empty paint cans and aerosols are blue box recyclable. Bring gasoline in
containers (glass jars, etc.) that can be disposed of. Gas cans will not be emptied and
returned.
